Anti-SV31 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the SV31 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the TMEM163 gene, which encodes transmembrane protein 163. This protein is believed to bind zinc and other divalent cations and recruit them to vesicular organelles. The human version of SV31 has a canonical amino acid length of 289 residues and a protein mass of 31.5 kilodaltons, although 3 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cytoplasmic vesicles of cells. SV31 is a member of the TMEM163 protein family.
