Anti-HUMMR antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the HUMMR antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the MGARP gene, which encodes mitochondria localized glutamic acid rich protein. This protein is known to function in neuronal development and the cellular response to hypoxia, among other biological roles. The human version of HUMMR has a canonical amino acid length of 240 residues and a protein mass of 25.4 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the mitochondria of cells and notably expressed in the retina, ovary, cerebellum, caudate, and adrenal gland.
