Anti-NP-II antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target NP-II is a known alias name of the protein neuronal pentraxin 2, encoded by the NPTX2 gene in humans. This 431-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in chemical synaptic transmission, among other biological processes. The protein is secreted and features glycosylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be expressed in the pituitary gland, pancreas, and adrenal gland. Other synonyms for NP-II include NARP and NP2.
