Anti-gloB antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target gloB is a known alias name of the protein beta-1,3-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 1 (globoside blood group), encoded by the B3GALNT1 gene in humans. This 331-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in the metabolism of lipids, among other biological processes. It is localized to the Golgi of the cell and features glycosylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be highly expressed in the heart and brain, and to a lesser extent in the lung, placenta, kidney and testis. Other synonyms for gloB include B3GALANT1, B3GALT3, and GLCT3. Western Blot is a widely used application for the gloB antibodies listed below. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
