Anti-GalNAcT antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the GalNAcT antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the B4GALNT1 gene, which encodes beta-1,4-N-acetyl-galactosaminyltransferase 1. This protein is known to function in carbohydrate metabolism and homeostasis and the metabolism of lipids, among other biological roles. The human version of GalNAcT has a canonical amino acid length of 533 residues and a protein mass of 58.9 kilodaltons, although 3 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the Golgi of cells and notably expressed in the hippocampus, colon, cerebral cortex, cerebellum, and caudate. Other names for this target antigen include GALGT and GalNAc-T. Indicated applications for GalNAcT antibodies listed below include ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunoprecipitation.
