Anti-gamma-BBH antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target gamma-BBH is a known alias name of the protein gamma-butyrobetaine hydroxylase 1, encoded by the BBOX1 gene in humans. This 387-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze the formation of L-carnitine from gamma-butyrobetaine. It is localized to the cytoplasm of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be highly expressed in the kidney; moderately expressed in the liver; very low expression in the brain. Other synonyms for gamma-BBH include BBH, BBOX, and G-BBH.
