Anti-C15 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the C15 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the PLAC8 gene, which encodes placenta associated 8. This protein is known to function in brown fat cell differentiation and the regulation of apoptosis, among other biological roles. The human version of C15 has a canonical amino acid length of 115 residues and a protein mass of 12.5 kilodaltons. It is reported to be notably expressed in many tissues, such as the appendix and bone marrow. Other names for this target antigen include DGIC and PNAS-144.
