Anti-AOFMD antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target AOFMD is a known alias name of the protein peripherin 2, encoded by the PRPH2 gene in humans. This 346-amino acid residue protein is known to be important for retina photoreceptor outer segment disk morphogenesis, may also play a role with ROM1 in the maintenance of outer segment disk structure (By similarity). It is localized to the membrane of the cell and features glycosylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be expressed in the retina. Other synonyms for AOFMD include AVMD and CACD2.
