Anti-C1GALT antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the C1GALT antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the C1GALT1 gene, which encodes core 1 synthase, glycoprotein-N-acetylgalactosamine 3-beta-galactosyltransferase 1. This protein is known to function in angiogenesis and kidney development, among other biological roles. The human version of C1GALT has a canonical amino acid length of 363 residues and a protein mass of 42.2 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the membrane of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. C1GALT is a member of the Glycosyltransferase 31 protein family.
