Anti-KL-6 antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The KL-6 antigen is another term for the human protein mucin 1, cell surface associated, encoded by the MUC1 gene. The protein is known to function in DNA damage pathways and the regulation of apoptosis, among other biological roles. Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 1255 residues and a mass of 122.1 kilodaltons. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane and it is noted to be expressed on the apical surface of epithelial cells, especially of airway passages, breast and uterus. Other alias names for KL-6 include ADMCKD, ADMCKD1, and ADTKD2. A number of KL-6 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Immunohistochemistry is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Western Blot are also common applications.
