Anti-ALT antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the ALT antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the GPT gene, which encodes glutamic--pyruvic transaminase. This protein is known to function in insulin signaling pathways, among other biological roles. The human version of ALT has a canonical amino acid length of 496 residues and a protein mass of 54.6 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the cytoplasm of cells and notably expressed in many tissues, such as the colon and gallbladder. ALT is a member of the Class-I pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent aminotransferase protein family.
