Anti-ATG8L antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target ATG8L is a known alias name of the protein GABA type A receptor associated protein like 1, encoded by the GABARAPL1 gene in humans. This 117-amino acid residue protein is reported to be a ubiquitin-like modifier that increases cell-surface expression of kappa-type opioid receptor through facilitating anterograde intracellular trafficking of the receptor. It is localized to the cytoplasmic vesicles, ER, Golgi, and cytoplasm of the cell and features cleaved post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is ubiquitously expressed across many tissue types. Other synonyms for ATG8L include APG8-LIKE, APG8L, and ATG8.
