Anti-SKT antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the SKT antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the KIAA1217 gene, which encodes KIAA1217. This protein is reported to be required for normal development of intervertebral disks. The human version of SKT has a canonical amino acid length of 1943 residues and a protein mass of 214.1 kilodaltons, although 9 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cytoplasm of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types.
