Anti-Ficolin 2 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the FCN2 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 313 amino acid residues and a mass of 34 kDa. It is known to be a secreted protein. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. It is notably expressed by the liver and secreted in plasma. A member of the Ficolin lectin protein family, it is believed to function in innate immunity through activation of the lectin complement pathway. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Other names for this target antigen include FCNL, P35, 37 kDa elastin-binding protein, L-ficolin, collagen/fibrinogen domain-containing protein 2, and EBP-37. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat and chicken species. A number of Ficolin 2 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
