Anti-PKB antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target PKB is a known alias name of the protein AKT serine/threonine kinase 1, encoded by the AKT1 gene in humans. This 480-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in the apoptotic pathway and cell differentiation, among other biological processes. It is localized to the cell membrane, nucleus, and cytoplasm of the cell and features glycosylated, ubiquitinated, acetylated, cleaved and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in prostate cancer and levels increase from the normal to the malignant state. Other synonyms for PKB include AKT and AKT.
