Anti-PCDH15 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein protocadherin related 15. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1955 amino acid residues and a mass of 216.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. Up to 5 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in the brain, lung, kidney, spleen and testis. PCDH15 is known to be involved with cell adhesion and ear development. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. The PCDH15 gene has been associated with the disease, Usher syndrome 1F. Synonyms for this target antigen include protocadherin-15 and cadherin-related family member 15. PCDH15 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
