Anti-Nik related kinase antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the NRK gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1582 amino acid residues and a mass of 178.5 kDa. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 3 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the STE Ser/Thr protein kinase protein family, it is believed to phosphorylate cofilin-1 and induce actin polymerization through this process, during the late stages of embryogenesis. Other names for this target antigen include nik-related protein kinase. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some Nik related kinase antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Immunofluorescence is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunocytochemistry are also common applications.
