Anti-MYL5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein myosin light chain 5. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 173 amino acid residues and a mass of 19.5 kDa. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in fetal skeletal muscle and retina. MYL5 is known to be involved with muscle contraction. Synonyms for this target antigen include myosin regulatory light chain 5, myosin, light chain 5, regulatory, myosin, light polypeptide 5, regulatory, superfast myosin regulatory light chain 2, and MYLC2. MYL5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. Some MYL5 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
