Anti-BMP7 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein bone morphogenetic protein 7. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 431 amino acid residues and a mass of 49.3 kDa. It is known to be a secreted protein. It is reported to be expressed in the kidney and bladder. A member of a the TGF-beta protein family, BMP7 is reported to be a growth factor of the TGF-beta superfamily that plays important role in various biological processes, including embryogenesis, hematopoiesis, neurogenesis and skeletal morphogenesis. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include OP-1 and osteogenic protein 1.
