Anti-TMEM181 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein transmembrane protein 181. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 612 amino acid residues and a mass of 69.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. TMEM181 is known to mediate action of cytolethal distending toxins (CDT), which are secreted by many pathogenic bacteria. Synonyms for this target antigen include G protein-coupled receptor 178. TMEM181 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Immunohistochemistry is the most common application for the TMEM181 antibodies listed below. ELISA and Western Blot are also common applications.
