Anti-MRPL16 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein mitochondrial ribosomal protein L16. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 251 amino acid residues and a mass of 28.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Universal ribosomal protein uL16 protein family, MRPL16 is known to be involved with mitochondrial translation. Synonyms for this target antigen include PNAS-111, 39S ribosomal protein L16, mitochondrial, mitochondrial large ribosomal subunit protein uL16m, and L16mt. MRPL16 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry are common applications for MRPL16 antibodies.
