Anti-CHAF1A antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein chromatin assembly factor 1 subunit A. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 956 amino acid residues and a mass of 106.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the CHAF1A protein family, CHAF1A is an important component of the CAF-1 complex, a complex that is thought to mediate chromatin assembly in DNA replication and DNA repair. Synonyms for this target antigen include CAF-1 and CAF1. CHAF1A gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
