Anti-PMCA2a antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the PMCA2a antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the ATP2B2 gene, which encodes ATPase plasma membrane Ca2+ transporting 2. This protein is known to function in brain development and the transport of ions, among other biological roles. The human version of PMCA2a has a canonical amino acid length of 1243 residues and a protein mass of 136.9 kilodaltons, although 8 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane of cells and notably expressed in the hippocampus, cerebral cortex, cerebellum, and caudate. Other names for this target antigen include DFNA82 and PMCA2.
