Anti-adenosine deaminase tRNA specific 2 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the ADAT2 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 191 amino acid residues and a mass of 21 kDa. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the Cytidine and deoxycytidylate deaminase protein family, it is suspected to be participates in deamination of adenosine-34 to inosine in many tRNAs. Other names for this target antigen include adenosine deaminase, tRNA-specific 2, TAD2 homolog, deaminase domain containing 1, deaminase domain-containing protein 1, and tRNA-specific adenosine deaminase 2. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
