Anti-AGBL carboxypeptidase 4 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the AGBL4 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 503 amino acid residues and a mass of 58.2 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the Golgi and cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the Peptidase M14 protein family, it is a reported metallocarboxypeptidase that mediates protein deglutamylation of tubulin and non-tubulin target proteins. Other names for this target antigen include ATP/GTP binding protein like 4, protein deglutamylase CCP6, and cytosolic carboxypeptidase 6. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish and chimpanzee species.
