Anti-FAM3 metabolism regulating signaling molecule A antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the FAM3A gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 230 amino acid residues and a mass of 25.2 kDa. It is known to be a secreted protein. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 3 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the FAM3 protein family, it is believed to act as a defensin against invading fungal microorganisms. Other names for this target antigen include cytokine-like protein 2-19, family with sequence similarity 3 member A, and protein FAM3A. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat and bovine species.
