Anti-chymotrypsin like elastase 1 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the CELA1 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 258 amino acid residues and a mass of 27.8 kDa. It is known to be a secreted protein. A member of the Peptidase S1 protein family, it is known to act upon elastin. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Other names for this target antigen include chymotrypsin-like elastase family member 1, chymotrypsin like elastase family member 1, elastase 1, pancreatic, elastase-1, pancreatic elastase 1, and ELA1. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
