Anti-SEPTIN2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein septin 2. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 361 amino acid residues and a mass of 41.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is widely expressed across many tissue types. A member of the Septin GTPase protein family, SEPTIN2 is known to be involved with cell differentiation and cilium assembly. Synonyms for this target antigen include NEDD-5, NEDD5, Pnutl3, hNedd5, epididymis secretory sperm binding protein, and DIFF6. SEPTIN2 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
