Anti-EBP cholestenol delta-isomerase antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the EBP gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 230 amino acid residues and a mass of 26.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus, ER, and cytoplasmic vesicles. A member of the EBP protein family, it is known to catalyze the conversion of Delta(8)-sterols to their corresponding Delta(7)-isomers. The gene encoding this protein is implicated in Chondrodysplasia punctata. Other names for this target antigen include CHO2, CPX, CPXD, MEND, 3-beta-hydroxysteroid-Delta(8),Delta(7)-isomerase, and CDPX2. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish and chimpanzee species.
