Anti-SEPTIN8 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein septin 8. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 483 amino acid residues and a mass of 55.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasmic vesicles and cytoplasm. Up to 4 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be widely expressed including in the brain, heart and platelets; most abundant in aorta. It is a member of the Septin GTPase protein family. SEPTIN8 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
