Anti-protein O-mannose kinase antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the POMK gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 350 amino acid residues and a mass of 40.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the ER. A member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase protein family, it is known to be involved with brain development and protein phosphorylation. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. The gene encoding this protein is implicated in Muscular dystrophy-dystroglycanopathy congenital with brain and eye anomalies. Other names for this target antigen include probable inactive protein kinase-like protein SgK196, protein kinase-like protein SgK196, and Sugen kinase 196. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
