Anti-Partner of Y14 and Mago antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target Partner of Y14 and Mago is a known alias name of the protein PYM homolog 1, exon junction complex associated factor, encoded by the PYM1 gene in humans. This 204-amino acid residue protein is a reported key regulator of the exon junction complex (EJC), a multiprotein complex that associates immediately upstream of the exon-exon junction on mRNAs and serves as a positional landmark for the intron exon structure of genes and directs post-transcriptional processes in the cytoplasm such as mRNA export, nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) or translation. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types.
