Anti-SMCR7 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target SMCR7 is a known alias name of the protein mitochondrial elongation factor 2, encoded by the MIEF2 gene in humans. This 454-amino acid residue protein is a member of the MID49/MID51 protein family. It is localized to the mitochondria of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in all tissues tested with highest expression in the heart and skeletal muscle.
