Anti-VDBP antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target VDBP is a known alias name of the protein GC vitamin D binding protein, encoded by the GC gene in humans. This 474-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in vitamin D transport and storage, scavenging of extracellular G-actin, enhancement of the chemotactic activity of C5 alpha for neutrophils in inflammation and macrophage activation. The protein is secreted and features O-glycosylated and N-glycosylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in the liver. Other synonyms for VDBP include DBP, DBP-maf, and DBP/GC. Western Blot is the most common application for the VDBP antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
