The TF tag is derived from the E. coli ribosome-associated chaperone protein, Trigger factor (TF). TF can help facilitate the assembly of co-expressed proteins in E. coli, improving the solubility of the overexpressed recombinant proteins for purification. Antibodies to the TF epitope may be useful in the detection and purification of TF-tagged proteins.
