Anti-collagen type VIII alpha 1 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target collagen type VIII alpha 1 is a known alias name of the protein collagen type VIII alpha 1 chain, encoded by the COL8A1 gene in humans. This 744-amino acid residue protein is reported to be a macromolecular component of the subendothelium. It is localized to the extracellular matrix and is secreted of the cell and features cleaved post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is notably expressed in the subendothelium of large blood vessels. Other synonyms for collagen type VIII alpha 1 include C3orf7, collagen alpha-1(VIII) chain, and cell proliferation-inducing protein 41.
