Anti-GABA type A receptor-associated protein antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene GABARAP in humans. The gene may also be known as ATG8A, gabarapa, GABARAP-a, MM46, and gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor-associated protein. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 13.9 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
