Anti-KPNA3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein karyopherin subunit alpha 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 521 amino acid residues and a mass of 57.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. It is ubiquitously expressed across many tissue types. A member of the Importin alpha protein family, KPNA3 is reported to function in nuclear protein import as an adapter protein for nuclear receptor KPNB1. The KPNA3 gene has been associated with the disease, Spastic paraplegia. Synonyms for this target antigen include SPG88, SRP1, SRP1gamma, SRP4, hSRP1, importin subunit alpha-4, SRP1-gamma, and IPOA4. KPNA3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
