Anti-PREP antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein prolyl endopeptidase. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 710 amino acid residues and a mass of 80.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Peptidase S9A protein family, PREP is known to be involved with proteolysis. Synonyms for this target antigen include PEP, dJ355L5.1 (prolyl endopeptidase), post-proline cleaving enzyme, prolyl oligopeptidase, and PE. PREP gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of PREP antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
