Anti-Desmocollin 3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the DSC3 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 896 amino acid residues and a mass of 100 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. It is known to be a component of intercellular desmosome junctions. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Other names for this target antigen include DSC, DSC1, DSC2, DSC4, HT-CP, cadherin family member 3, desmocollin-4, and CDHF3.
