Anti-MTX2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein metaxin 2. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 263 amino acid residues and a mass of 29.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Metaxin protein family, Mtx2 is known to be involved in transport of proteins into the mitochondrion. The MTX2 gene has been associated with the disease, Mandibuloacral dysplasia progeroid syndrome. Synonyms for this target antigen include MDPS and mitochondrial outer membrane import complex protein 2. MTX2 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of Mtx2 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
