Anti-RHCE antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein Rh blood group CcEe antigens. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 417 amino acid residues and a mass of 45.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane. Up to 14 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the bone marrow. A member of the Ammonium transporter (TC 2.A.49) protein family, RHCE is believed to be part of an oligomeric complex which is likely to have a transport or channel function in the erythrocyte membrane. The RHCE marker can be used to identify Mid Erythroid Cells.* Synonyms for this target antigen include RH, RH30A, RHC, RHCe(152N), RHE, RHIXB, RHNA, and CD240CE. RHCE gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat and chicken species.
