Anti-EPI antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The EPI antigen is another term for the human protein tissue factor pathway inhibitor, encoded by the TFPI gene. The protein is reported to inhibit factor X (X(a)) directly and, in a Xa-dependent way, inhibits VIIa/tissue factor activity, presumably by forming a quaternary Xa/LACI/VIIa/TF complex. Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 304 residues and a mass of 35 kilodaltons. It is a secreted protein and it is widely expressed in many tissue types. Other alias names for EPI include LACI. Western Blot is the most common application for the EPI antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
