Anti-TSP5 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target TSP5 is a known alias name of the protein cartilage oligomeric matrix protein, encoded by the COMP gene in humans. This 757-amino acid residue protein is reported to play a role in the structural integrity of cartilage via its interaction with other extracellular matrix proteins such as the collagens and fibronectin. It is localized to the extracellular matrix and is secreted of the cell and features glycosylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is found to be highly expressed in the chondrocyte extracellular matrix, and is also found in bone, tendon, ligament and synovium and blood vessels. Other synonyms for TSP5 include CTS2, EDM1, and EPD1. Immunohistochemistry is the most common application for the TSP5 antibodies listed below. ELISA and Western Blot are also common applications.
