Anti-Shati antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target Shati is a known alias name of the protein N-acetyltransferase 8 like, encoded by the NAT8L gene in humans. This 302-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze the synthesis of N-acetylaspartate acid (NAA) from L-aspartate and acetyl-CoA. It is localized to the mitochondria, ER, and cytoplasm of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in the brain. Other synonyms for Shati include N-acetylaspartate synthetase, N-acetyltransferase 8-like (GCN5-related, putative), and NAA synthetase.
