Anti-beta-3-Gx-T5 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target beta-3-Gx-T5 is a known alias name of the protein beta-1,3-galactosyltransferase 5, encoded by the B3GALT5 gene in humans. This 310-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze the transfer of Gal to GlcNAc-based acceptors with a preference for the core3 O-linked glycan GlcNAc(beta1,3)GalNAc structure. It is localized to the Golgi of the cell and features glycosylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in the stomach, jejunum, colon, pancreas, small intestine, testis and gastrointestinal and pancreatic cancer cell lines. Other synonyms for beta-3-Gx-T5 include B3GalT-V, B3GalTx, and B3T5.
