Company:

Invitrogen

Product Name:

DAPI (4',6-Diamidino-2-Phenylindole, Dilactate)

Catalog Number:

D3571

DAPI is a water-soluble dye and emits blue fluorescence upon binding to AT regions of DNA which makes it a popular nuclear counterstain. Also, DAPI is a cell non-permeant dye, and I used it to counterstain the nucleus in virus-infected cells after fixation of cells with formaldehyde.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Cell Imaging

Starting Material

Human lung cell line

Tips

Stain the targeted cells after fixation as it is cell non-permeable dye.

Results Summary

Clear bright blue color nucleus was imaged in fluorescence microscopy in both virus infected and non-infected cells.
