Company:

ThermoFisher Scientific

Product Name:

TrypLE™ Express Enzyme (1X), phenol red

Catalog Number:

12605028

I have used TrypLE for detaching various adherent cell lines that require gentle handling. TrypLE has consistently been useful for my needs and it can be used for longer periods without detrimental effects to cell viability.

Summary

The Good

Exceptional enzyme stability (can be stored at RT).

The Bad

Sometimes requires multiple incubations for especially sticky cells.

The Bottom Line

TrypLE is an excellent cell dissociation reagent for adherent cells and efficiently detaches cells without affecting cell viability. If you are concerned with preserving high cell viability and integrity of surface protein expression, then I would recommend using TrypLE in lieu of trypsin.
