My research focuses heavily on analyzing signal transduction cascades of the opioid receptors. This involves a lot of phospho-protein analysis by Western blot, In-Cell Western, and similar approaches. The Sapphire Imager is used as the capture device for all these studies.

Summary

The Good

Flexible and adaptable for multiple experiment types, modular equipment platform, very sensitive detection, great cost for the value.

The Bad

None noted!

The Bottom Line

This is a great equipment platform. It's modular, meaning that different laser and detector types can be incorporated to fit different needs. We have the 4 laser system. It's flexible with programmable scanner parameters, including depth; this lets you do scans on microplates for In Cell Westerns, microscope slides, and similar. The sensitivity is strong and we've had great luck acquiring data - see attached! Really, I can't think of any reason NOT to get this system; it compares very favorably with LiCor on price and flexibility.
