Our lab is concerned with studying the transcriptome and signaling changes that occur during transitional B-cell development. This is a major checkpoint in peripheral tolerance where autoreactive B-cell clones are purged. To isolate apoptotic cells, we used the Annexin V staining kit from BD. This stain works well to discriminate from live cells. Note: there are some cells which stain positive for Annexin V that are not apoptotic (e.g. Marginal zone B-cells).
